Sam Bello is a 2019 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Blauvelt, NY who attends Iona Preparatory High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, long limbs, and room to continue to develop physically and add strength. Primary right handed pitcher, worked out of the stretch only, high leg raise past belt, stiff landing on front leg, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Ball comes out clean on release, very athletic off the mound, and good arm speed. Fastball explodes out of hand at 84-87 mph with arm side life that worked effectively around the zone. Also spun tight slider with 10/4 shape and good bite at 71 mph. Effective around both sides of the zone. Also worked out at first base, showed a long arm action, carry on throws, with athletic actions through the ball. At the plate, started with a high hand set and a leg lift timing mechanism. Lots of torque through lower half, good weight shift, strength through swing, and good bat speed. Carry off the barrel, slight backside collapse, and a line drive swing plane. Named to Top Prospect List.
