2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Jacob Wilson is a 2016 RHP/3B, 1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Livermore, CA who attends Foothill HS. Large, broad shouldered build with a strong lower half and mature build. Primary right-handed pitcher, hip turn at top of delivery before coming to plate, front side opens early at times but does a nice job of staying online towards the plate. Throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with good extension out front, creates good downhill plane to bottom of zone. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, showed heavy life and gets on hitters quickly. Curveball shows sweeping action with 10-4 shape and occasional depth. Good rhythm and tempo, works to both sides of the plate and challenges in the strike zone. Lower slot release across the infield, quick transfer, short steps charging in, accurate throws across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and pulls hands back at beginning of swing. Shifts weight through lower half, short and simple mechanics, longer path through ball but shows comfort to pull side and can hit to all fields. Good student.
