Carter Buchanan is a 2018 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-3 165 lb. frame from Alpharetta, GA who attends Kings Ridge Christian. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple and balanced delivery and does a nice job of getting tall on backside, hip turn at top, works quickly through delivery. Short stride down the mound and projects with addtional incorporated, short arm stroke through the backside working to an extended three-quarters arm slot, attacked hitters with fastball and topped out at 82 mph. Lands closed with foot strike but creates angle at release, can challenge righthanded hitters in and shows running life to the arm side down in the zone. Short depth to curveball, shows 11-5 shape up to 69 mph, has the comfort to drop in for strikes in any count. Ball comes out of the hand clean in the outfield, gathers nicely behind the ball and finishes through the ball well, accurate throws with nice carry and accuracy. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow and open stance, high hand set and back elbow in the box. Creates torque with lower half in swing, slight pause at top of leg lift, contact approach at the plate and shows a linear path through the zone with a clean hand path, creates contact to all fields. Good student.
