Wade Stauss is a 2017 C/3B with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Chesterfield, MO who attends Lafayette HS. Medium athletic build, plenty of room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, spread slightly open stance, tends to close too much in his load and lock off the inside part of the zone, opposite field approach with some strength at contact, swings hard and has the ability to drive the ball when squared. Plays both infield and catcher, graded out better as an infielder at this event. Showed good footwork in the infield with athletic actions, moved through the ball and stayed balanced, accurate throwing arm. Had long actions behind the plate in his release and arm action, throws from a low slot but makes accurate tailing throws. Projects well physically and should keep improving with physical maturity. Good student.
