Sammy Pleus is a 2016 LHP/OF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Sugar Land, TX who attends Clements HS. Large, athletic frame with longer limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill out with added strength. Ran a 7.07 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from a three-quarter arm slow with a long arm action coming through the back. Works quickly on the mound, showed a nice three-pitch mix and pitchability on the mound. Gets on top of fastball, occasional arm side run and topped out at 87 mph, working mostly in the mid-80s. Will occasionally work too quickly on the mound. Curveball flashed hard bite with 1-7 shape at 70 mph, gets around at times giving it slider shape. Nice straight changeup at 77 mph. Same easy arm action from the outfield, full arm action, comes out cleanly with accuracy to bases. Left-handed hitter, starts with an upright stance and uses a toe tap trigger. Simple swing mechanics with nice bat speed, uppercut swing plane, occasionally pulls front side out early, creates leverage at point of contact. Very good student. Named to National Underclass South Top Prospect List.
