Jaren Shelby is a 2016 OF/ with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Lexington, KY who attends Tates Creek HS. Tightly wound athletic build, very good present strength on a medium frame. 6.80 runner, very strong outfield fundamentals on defense, well controlled path through ball with a balanced crow hop and very good raw arm strength, makes on line accurate throws. Right handed hitter, calm and balanced approach, short and compact swing with a limited shift to the ball, simple approach, very strong and fast hands, consistent hard line drive contact, handles the barrel very well, showed lift in his swing with good extension out front, very basic see ball/hit ball approach that is well executed, can see him hitting for a high average throughout his career. Son of former big league outfielder John Shelby. Good student. Named to the Perfect Game All-American Classic Team.
