Ryan Palermo is a 2008 right hand hitting third baseman from Serra HS, residing in Redwood City, CA. He has a 6'2" 170 lb. frame with a long, strong, broad body type that has a lot of room to fill out. He projects to be quite physical. Palermo has very sound offensive approach for a young hitter. He has good balance and maintains a consistent gap to gap stroke. He stays inside the ball well and lets the ball get deep in the zone. He has an aggressive nature but understands what he wants to hit. With his good bat speed and developing strength, combined with an advanced approach, Palermo is a developing impact type of hitter. He makes very loud contact and his power is going to play to all fields. Defensively Palermo also shows an advanced feel for the game. He has sure hands, good feet, and a strong arm (though at this event his arm was hurting and he could not let it go). He has a quick release and gets the ball airborne in a hurry. Overall his defensive skill set is above average and he has a chance to be a plus defensive player. Palermo is a young player that has an excellent understanding of how to play the game and combined with his good ability and projectable body, he is a very good prospect.
