Austin Evans is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Tampa, FL with a good pitchers build at 6-3, 195 lbs. He throws from a high 3/4's release point with a clean, fast arm circle and smooth pitching mechanics, with some effort at release. Evans fastball topped out at 91 mph and he's shown us he can throw in the low 90's consistently. His best pitch is a 74 mph curveball that has a nasty, sharp break at times. Evans tall delivery and good downward plane really give this pitch a lot of downward movement and make it tough to hit. Evans will also speed up his curveball to the upper 70's with more of a slurve type of break and this is a very good pitch as well. It wouldn't be surprising to see Evans take the next step and develop a slider at some point. We didn't see a change up. Evans is a young power pitcher in the making who will get plenty of professional scouting attention. He's a good student who has signed to go to Alabama.
