Christopher O'Brien is a 2008 C/3B with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Tulsa, OK who attends Bishop Kelley HS. He has a strong, mature build. O'Brien is a solid defensive player who sets up strong and quiet and shows nice quickness and receiving ability. He threw 78 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.93. He made consistently accurate throws. O'Brien is a switch hitter at the plate and he shows ability and some bat speed both ways. He has more of an open, balanced approach from the left side with a smooth, line drive swing that is more contact oriented. Right handed, O'Brien stays back a little better and lets the ball travel into him with more leverage and better bat speed at contact and more ability to drive the ball. O'Brien is athletic for a catcher and runs well. He has the tools to keep developing and being a switch hitter is a definite plus for a young catcher.
