National HS Rankings: May 26

The top 10 was shaken up this week when three teams went down in their respective state’s semifinal rounds of the playoffs. Lambert (Ga.) has been on cruise control all spring and took care of business this week, taking down Parkview (Ga.), who at the time was the 18th ranked team nationally. Hamilton (Ariz.) brought home some hardware, winning the state championship, jumping to No. 8 overall. Puyallup’s (Wash.) undefeated season is still intact after going 2-0 this past week in the state semifinals and rise from No. 13 to No. 9.

Lambert and Milton, both of Georgia, split the first two games of a three-game series, and whoever wins the third game takes home the AAAAAA state championship.

Two California teams jumped a few spots within the top 10 after winning their second round games with Huntington Beach up to No. 4 and Harvard-Westlake to No. 7.

The biggest riser amongst teams who were a part of last week’s rankings is Oak Grove out of Mississippi, who climbed the rankings 30 spots all the way up to No.  19. Oak Grove found themselves matched up against a very deep team full of Division I commits in DeSoto Central (50), who has been nationally ranked for the majority of the season. After winning the first game of the best-of-three series, Oak Grove lost the second game but regrouped and took the next one from DeSoto, bringing the state championship back to Hattiesburg.

Farragut (Tenn.) is the highest ranked team of the five new entrants in this week’s edition, landing at No. 27. After being ranked in the pre-season, Farragut got off to a rough start but started to have things click and went on a tear through the last month of the season, resulting in a AAA state championship. This title means a little more for the Admirals as they won it for their assistant coach and Perfect Game scout and friend Scott Dean who passed away just prior to the season.

Other new additions this week include: No. 28 American (Fla.), No. 32 Glendora (Calif.), No. 41 Bryant (Ark.), No. 45 Rocky Mountain (Colo.).
