2016 Summer Collegiate Top Prospect Index
Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Top Prospect List (15)

The Brazos Valley Bombers continued their dominance over their TCL opponents by going 48-7 during the regular while cruising to their fourth consecutive league championship once they reached the playoffs. They became they first summer collegiate team ever to win four league championships in a row, and their title victory, a 4-0 win over Acadiana, was their 12th shutout of the season.

Not surprisingly Brazos Valley players dominated both the stat leaders and the top prospect list. Anthony Herrera – who made the
Perfect Game Summer Collegiate All-America Second Team – had arguably the biggest season in the league even if he wasn’t included among the top prospects, leading the TCL in batting, on-base percentage and saves.

TOP 10 PROSPECTS

1. Riley McCauley, rhp, Brazos Valley (Michigan State/SO in 2016)
McCauley did not see much time on the mound for Michigan State in his first collegiate season, but got plenty of opportunities on the bump this summer with the league champion Brazos Valley Bombers. He is a closer-type righthander, usually working between 91-94, and his best pitch may well be his slider, which grades out as a plus pitch for him. McCauley stands at 6-foot, but there is room in his frame to add even more velocity to his game.
