Perfect Game All-American Cole Brannen (Elko, Ga.) continued his very strong showing on Day 2 of the East Coast Professional Showcase. After hitting an opposite field home run on Monday, the lefthanded hitting outfielder picked up two more hard hits Tuesday, one a 400-foot ground-rule double just to the right of the batter's eye at Steinbrenner Field. Brannen also undressed the shortstop with a scorching short hop line drive that the defender had no choice but to bail out on.
Another offensive star of the day was Nick Egnatuk (Basking Ridge, N.J.), who went 4-for-4 with a walk in a perfect afternoon. Egnatuk took a strong batting practice on Monday and the righthanded hitter followed it up with three singles and a booming triple off the left-center field wall to re-emphasize the first impression that he'd left. Egnatuk also showed a very strong arm on a couple of deep throws from third base, making accurate throws with lots of carry from a lower than usual arm slot for a left side infielder.
