2016 Top Prospects

Nate Brown  RHP - 2016 - Hartland, WI
Arizona/Madison College

Brown is a Florida signee who has the ability to step right in as a freshman and contribute at that level. He has three solid present pitches in a 89-91 mph fastball, a big breaking slider and a nice change up and throws strikes with all three.

Drew Millas  C - 2016 - Swansea, IL
Missouri State

Millas still needs some refinement on his mechanics but he has very impressive raw tools, including 84 mph arm strength from behind the plate. The Missouri State signee is a switch-hitter who looked especially strong from the right side against live pitching.

Ryan Schmitt  RHP - 2016 - Hartland, WI
Illinois

An Illinois signee, Schmidt is a strong and fairly mature 5-10 athlete with a hard sinking fastball that touched 90 mph and a big breaking slider to go with it. Hitters had very little chance against him.

Brett Vosik  OF - 2016 - Omaha, NE
Kansas

A Kansas signee, Vosik is a quality two-way prospect who is listed as a primary third baseman. We think he might have a higher ceiling on the mound, with an easy delivery, a fastball that was consistently 86-87 mph and has been up to 92 in the past to go with a nice slider.

Brady Stover  LHP - 2016 - Huxley, IA
South Dakota State

The 6-2/190 Stover has as nice as delivery as you will ever see on a young pitcher and has outstanding command of an 84-87 mph fastball and shows flashes of quality from both a curveball and a slider. He is signed with South Dakota State.

Alex Jackson  LHP - 2016 - Mahomet, IL
Heartland CC

Jackson has a very nice and projectable pitcher's build at 6-2/180 and has a fastball that reaches 87 mph consistently from the left side. A Heartland CC signee, he showed a four-pitch mix, with his slider being his best secondary offerning.

Tyler Roeder  IF - 2016 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Southeastern CC

Roeder generates good leverage with his line drive approach allowing him to drive the ball gap to gap. A Southeastern CC signee, his tremendous work ethic will only continue to enhance his development at the plate.

Brody Gugat  RHP - 2016 - Sioux City, IA
NIACC

Gugat is an extra big and strong athlete with a mature 6-5/215 build. He has simple and repeatable mechanics with a clean arm action and pounds the strike zone with an 85-87 mph fastball and true 12/6 downer curveball. He is signed with NIACC.

Cipriano Primicias  C - 2016 - Toronto, ON CAN
Uncommitted

Primicias is a big boned and very strong Canadian who especially stood out with his right handed bat. He has plenty of present bat speed and power potential.

2017 Top Prospects

Nathan Burns  RHP - 2017 - West Bend, WI
Oregon State

Burns has a chance to develop into a very high level pitching prospect. He throws as easily and smoothly as you will see in a young pitcher and is already sitting in the upper 80's with a tight and effective slider. He has a verbal commitment to Oregon State.

Jackson Campbell  C - 2017 - Russellville, KY
Southeastern Louisiana

Campbell impressed us at the National Underclass Main Even in Florida in late December and he was just as impressive indoors in Iowa. He's a quick twitch athlete with very good defensive tools and a quick right handed bat.

Michael Hojnacki  RHP - 2017 - Saint Louis, MO
Bradley

The 6-1/160 Hojnacki has a long and projectable build and a very loose arm that produced a consistent upper 80's fastball that hit 89 mph frequently from the windup with very good downhill angle.

Kellen Sarver  C - 2017 - Champaign, IL
Illinois

The 6-1/195 Sarver impressed both at and behind the plate. Sarver shows good discipline at the plate with balance. Shows a mid-field approach with a compact when plane that led to consistent hard contact. Sarver is also fundamentally sound behind the plate showing good downhill action with carry on throws, pop time of 1.91.

Thomas Webster  RHP - 2017 - Omaha, NE
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia

Webster is a very legit 6-9/190 pounds and is surprisingly athletic in repeating his unusual delivery and throwing a high percentage of strikes. His fastball topped out at 84 mph but was probably his third best pitch behind a very sharp curveball and a lively change up.

Anthony Alepra  RHP - 2017 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Northwestern

Alepra as a very athletic and projectable 6-3/175 build and a smooth delivery and arm action. He showed a full four-pitch mix, with a mid-80's fastball and a sharp breaking curveball being his two best pitches.

Ben Probst  RHP - 2017 - Urbandale, IA
Iowa

Probst showed three solid pitches in a fastball that reached 87 mph, a power curveball in the mid-70's and a nice fading change up. The curveball is really a good pitch that is going to get hitters out at the next level.

Jarred Wood  RHP - 2017 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Northwest Missouri State

Wood looked to be in outstanding shape and ready for a big spring and summer. He pitched in the mid-80's with good downhill angle to his fastball and threw an outstanding change up.

Jack (John) Thelen  C - 2017 - West Bend, WI
Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Thelen is tall for a catcher but he has athletic actions behind the plate and sound fundamentals. He has some bat speed from the right side of the plate and projects well as a hitter.

Osvaldo Berrios Flores  RHP - 2017 - Juncos, PR
Alabama State

Flores traveled all the way to Iowa from Puerto Rico and showed well. He has a projectable build and very loose arm action that produced an 84 mph fastball and a nice slider and pounded the strike zone with both pitches.

2018 Top Prospects

Jeffrey Holtz  C - 2018 - Hartland, WI
Indiana

The Indiana commit showed consistent loud contact off the barrel with natural lift at the point of contact. The 2018 grad shows signs to continue to put on additional strength to his already impressive young frame.

Zach Argo  RHP - 2018 - Firth, NE
Air Force

Argo shows the potential to be a very solid two-way prospect as a catcher and right handed pitcher, with nice athleticism and an arm that works very well at both positions. He comes from the same small Nebraska high school as 2013 PG All-American Jakson Reetz.

Zyon Avery  C - 2018 - Indianapolis, IN
Ohio

Avery's current size and strength corresponds well with his bat speed and barrel turn. His raw power should only continue to grow. Avery also shows a promising skill set behind the plate with a pop time of 1.90.

Jake Mayers  RHP - 2018 - San Diego, CA
Uncommitted

Myers is an extra large sophomore at 6-4/215 and his arm works very well on the mound and he has some deception in his delivery. He topped out at 85 mph and there is plenty more velocity in there.

Ryan Kircher  LHP - 2018 - Pittsburgh, PA
Kent State

Kircher looks young and has lots of growing to do but he has a very mature approach to pitching well beyond his years. He spotted and mixed with a low 80's fastball, a big and sharp breaking curveball and a nice change up that are all going to get better as he gets stronger.

Jack Wilson  RHP - 2018 - Iowa City, IA
Kirkwood CC

Wilson has a very young 6-3/170 build and really projects well. He topped out at 82 mph but there is plenty more velocity there as he physically matures. Most impressive was his curveball, which was one of the best of the weekend, and his ability to throw both pitches for strikes.

Pierce Blohowiak  OF - 2018 - Neenah, WI
Yale

Blohowiak has present athleticism and a middle of the field approach that serves his game well producing several line drives. He showed good quickness behind the plate defensively and has solid arm strength for his age.

Timothy Ewald  LHP - 2018 - St. Peters, MO
Dallas Baptist

Ewald wasn't consistent in his command and stuff but he flashed potential with up to five different pitches, including a fastball that touched 85 mph and a nice slider that he started throwing late from the stretch.

2019 Top Prospects

Tyler Wood  C - 2019 - Radcliff, KY
Western Kentucky

Wood is seriously big and strong for a freshman at a solid 6-1/205 but has quickness and athleticism as well. He popped 1.89 in drills with outstanding arm strength and hit the ball hard from the right side.

Sam Wibbels  RHP - 2019 - Hastings, NE
Kentucky

Wibbels is an impressive young freshman who has yet to play in a high school game but who already sits in the mid-80's from a deceptive delivery that hitters had a hard time adjusting to.
