PSA Sox Red Claim 13u Title

Drake Browne
Based out of Ridgeland, MS, the PSA Sox Red capped off their impressive run at the 13u PG Super25 National Championship with a win over another highly talented club, the Dallas Tigers.  Both teams were dominant throughout pool play, and once the bracket started it seemed like the two were destined for a clash in the title game.  The matchup lived up to the hype, but the Sox pulled away late and took home the crown.

Heading into the championship game, the Tigers were a perfect 6-0 after defeating the Tri-State Arsenal by the score of 9-0 in the semifinals.  The PSA Sox Red also won by the mercy rule in their semifinal matchup against Stealth Baseball USA, wining by an impressive score of 14-1.

Dallas Tigers - Hernandez jumped out to an early lead in the ballgame, thanks to Austin King's four RBI.  King hit a double in the first inning and home run in the third to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.

PSA fought back to score at least one run in all four of the final innings.  After getting one back in the top of the 4th, C Hayden Dunhurst blasted a 2-run HR to right field to give the Sox a 5-4 lead.  The team rallied for three more in the 6th inning, before P Austin Kelly gave himself another insurance run with a deep HR to centerfield in the 7th.

Because of his performance, Austin Kelly was named the tournament's MVP.  He showed tremendous power at the plate, blasting a total of 5 HR's and racking up 15 RBI in the team's 7 games.

RHP Dillon Carter of the Dallas Tigers - Hernandez received the tournament's Most Valuable Pitcher award.  Carter pitched his team to the Championship game and only allowed a single run with 10 strike outs over the course of the tournament.
