If they have the d and pitching.. who cares about batting. 1 run can win games. Oregon is a great example.

You have to give oregon a pretty good shake, when the only series losses are to the top 5 teams in the nation right now. All about finishing.. Go Ducks!

RD
This is offically Pac Trash & I'm callin' ya out.
You may win the series, but a sweep by the Ducks in Tempe? hehe I will wager the value of a 6 pack of St Pauli Girl ($8.00) that you are justa flappin' your feathers. If you win, you can wet your beak. If I win, I'll be a Happy Devil knowing a Duck bought the beer
Ya accept?
F

no bet..I got to find a way to the top.. and this is go for broke. I remember going to az and all the trash..we were the last team to beat the eventual champs.. so who knows. We are due a breakout performance. Our pitching and D are the big equalizer.. That is one reason we are 8-1..

Hmmmmmm. and here I thought you were 22-6

Yeah.. and you beav fans have nothing on that. Your record=schooled last week. One more week of that crap and the beavs jig is up.

Pick analysis

I was going to wait for Bob and Borg, but I can’t wait forever. Hopefully you guys can get your votes in before first pitch tomorrow. Here’s your pick analysis.
  • Pepperdine is the most favored pick, 15-0 over UW with 5 sweeps.
  • Stanford is a close second, 14-1 over USC with 6 sweeps.
  • Wazzu over Utah and Arizona over Cal are tied for third, both getting 14-1 votes with 4 sweeps.
  • OSU is favored over UCLA 12-3, with both teams getting 1 sweep vote.
  • The closest series is ASU 10-5 over Oregon, with both teams getting 1 sweep vote.
I’m always interested in series that get sweep votes on both sides. I guess that says something about these two top matchups, that fans think all the teams involved will be competitive, and it can go either way. Seriously, these are probably even closer than the 12-3 and 10-5 predictions: Because this a Beaver-heavy board, it makes sense for Beaver fans to pick their team in greater numbers than third parties. It also makes sense that those same Beaver fans will vote against their Duck rivals. I’m hoping for two really good series, regardless of the outcomes.

ohhh, I found one....peculiar species

I just thought RD would have more than 8 bucks worth of faith in his team. Color me green with disappointment. Cluck, cluck, cluck.

Day one
  • UCLA 3, Oregon State 2. Adam Plutko (3-2) allowed 2 hits and 1 run (unearned) over 7 innings and UCLA edged the Beavers. SR LHP Matt Boyd (6-1) suffered only his second career loss at Oregon State. JR 1B Pat Gallagher was 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI for the Bruins. Ryan Barnes had half of the Beavers’ four hits and scored both runs.
    UCLA leads series 1-0.

  • Arizona State 6, Oregon 5, 11 innings. The Sun Devils led the Ducks 5-1 after five innings, but Oregon tied it with four runs in the top of the 8th off five straight leadoff hits—a double, single, double, triple, and a single. ASU scored the winning run in the 11th off a leadoff single, sac bunt, and RBI single by FR RJ Ybarra. Michael Benjamin and Jake Peevyhouse both had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for ASU. Five Ducks has multiple hits, led by Ryon Healy (2 for 5, 3 RBIs) and Mitchell Tolman (3 for 6, 1 RBI).
    Arizona State leads series 1-0.

  • Arizona 10, California 1. Arizona put a 5-spot on California’s Ryan Mason in the 2nd, and the Wildcats cruised to a blowout, allowing the Bears heir only run in the top of the 9th. Konner Wade pitched 8.2 innings and scattered 6 hits, leaving with two outs in the 9th and a zero still in the run column against him until an infield single against reliever Augey Bill broke the shutout. Trent Gilbert and Johnny Field each had three of the Wildcats’ 13 hits.
    Arizona leads series 1-0.

  • Stanford 4, USC 2. The Trojans led 2-0 after five innings but JR C Branting’s first career home run, a three-run jack in the 6th, propelled the Cardinal to the win. Mark Appel (5-2) pitched 8.2 innings for the win.
    Stanford leads series 1-0.

  • Utah 7, Washington State 4. After two chances to bat, the Cougars were up 4-0 on the Utes, but Utah scratched for single runs three times and entered the 8th down only one run when they broke out for 4 runs to take game one. Wazzu outhit Utah 12 to 11. SO RHP Mitch Watrous (2-1) pitched 8.0 innings for the win. Wazzu’s Joe Pistorese left the game after 7 with a lead, but Kellen Camus (3-1) could not hold the Utes, giving up 5 hits to the 7 batters he faced and 4 earned runs in one inning of relief.
    Utah leads series 1-0.

  • Washington 6, Pepperdine 2. The Waves scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st then fell asleep at the plate. Washington tied it at 2-2 in the 8th, then jumped on Eric Karch for four runs in the top of the 9th. SO RHP Tyler Davis pitched 4.0 innings in relief for the win.
    Washington leads series 1-0.

Change who leads that Oregon ASU series.

Some good games last night in the PAC! Congrats to the ASU, Stanford and Utah fans on the board. Pretty sure none of the other teams that won have representatives.

Yeah. At the bottom. I decided to see what it is about being down here that RD finds so comforting. Weird, but I find it uncomfortable being underneath all these other guys. Decidedly abnormal feelings for a beaver, but hey, maybe it's just me.

If ya want to be at the top in predictions......pick the exact opposite of what I pick.
ie Want ASU to win so I pick the Ducks....we'll see how it works.
