2007 Top Prospects

Justin Baca  RHP - 2007 - LasVegas, NV
UNLV

Baca has a strong and power type build. He climbed as high as 88 and comfortably pitched in the 86-87 range. Most impressive was his curveball, an absolute hammer with late downer action, thrown in the 74-77 mph range. Big time breaking ball that will draw high interest from the top D1 programs as well as pro ball.

Cole Cook  RHP - 2007 - Los Angeles, CA
Pepperdine

Clearly any young pitcher with Cook's body and quick arm is one to be followed very closely. He pitched with an aggressive nature and flashed a fastball up to 91 mph. His comfort level right now is 86-88, but the arm strength is there. Cook also used a hard slider and a tight curveball. Both had late action at times.

Freddie Freeman  1B - 2007 - Villa Park, CA
Cal State Fullerton

When he has it going, Freeman's bat is as good as any high school player in the nation, in any graduating class. He squares up at contact extremely well, has plus bat speed and for real HR power. He also has a plus arm. Freeman has a broad frame and is still quite a way from being fully physically developed.

Brett Krill  OF - 2007 - Laguna Niguel, CA
UCLA

Krill continues to impress, seemingly getting better and better each week. He is a run producing, middle of the order bat. His upright stance, bat position, and even swing plane is reminiscent of Moises Alou. Krill is an excellent outfielder and graceful athlete. Like Freeman, his body is very good, but still has lots of room to fill out.

Courtney Morgan  MIF - 2007 - San Diego, CA
Wake Forest

Morgan is rapidly developing into a very polished player. He makes plays on defense and plays both positions up the middle very well. With the bat he displays very good bat control and sprays line drives to all fields.

Nick Noonan  MIF - 2007 - San Diego, CA
Clemson

Noonan is a smooth and polished defender also brings a very quick bat and above average speed to one of the most important positions on the field. He is one of those players that makes playing the game look easier than it is. On offense and defense his hands are a plus attribute.

Troy Scott  3B - 2007 - Auburn, WA
University of Washington

An unknown to us before this showcase, Scott showcased offensive abilities that are certain to have top D1 programs and pro scouts on him all summer. He has plus bat speed, his hands work very well, and his hips explode, providing extremely intriguing power projection. Defensively his hands are good and he has some feel for defense. He is still very wiry, allowing a scout to dream big things about his future with the bat.

Robert Stock  C - 2007 - Westlake Village, CA
Southern California

Stock again showed us a super quick arm, unleashing a few 94 mph fastballs while also staying down in the zone. He also has a wicked change of direction curveball. Stock is also a legit middle of the order bat with gap to gap power that he has consistently shown.

Sequoyah Stonecipher  OF - 2007 - San Diego, CA
San Diego

Stonecipher is a polished outfielder, capable of playing all three OF positions. At the plate he has excellent bat speed and loft type power. In the long run he looks like his bat will play at a corner OF position and his defensive abilities should make him a well above average right fielder.

Josh Vitters  3B - 2007 - Anaheim, CA
Arizona State

Vitters unleashed one of the top power strokes we have seen among '07 graduates. His hands are lightning quick to start and explode through contact. He has legitimate HR power and his still getting better. On defense his range, arm, and agility are all quality attributes for a top defensive 3rd baseman.

2008 Top Prospects

Beau Didier  SS - 2008 - Federal Way, WA
Louisiana State

Didier is a very fluid player. He has a polished, pro-type hitting approach, with an easy swing, good bat speed, and excellent hands. As his body gets stronger, his power stroke should emerge. On defense he has solid actions and very good body control, with a quick release.

Harlyn Griffiths  RHP - 2008 - Scottsdale, AZ
Uncommitted

Didier is a very fluid player. He has a polished, pro-type hitting approach, with an easy swing, good bat speed, and excellent hands. As his body gets stronger, his power stroke should emerge. On defense he has solid actions and very good body control, with a quick release.

Jason Hanson  IF - 2008 - Tucson, AZ
Oklahoma State

Hanson is a polished, talented young player. He looks to be a middle of the order bat, a plus for a middle infield prospect. On defense his abilities are advanced for his age, with an overall defensive tool set that should allow him to stay at SS for quite awhile.

Matthew Harrison  SS - 2008 - Henderson, NV
North Carolina

Harrison, like Didier and Hanson, is quite polished for a young player. Physically he has a very lean and athletic build and controls his body well in the game. At the plate Harrison is a handsy, line drive hitter. In time some of his mistakes will leave the yard. Defensively he has very good instincts, a good arm, and takes great angles to the ball.

Jesse Moore  MIF - 2008 - San Diego, CA
Hawaii

Moore has a natural instinct to hit. He is aggressive and has a very fundamentally sound swing and approach. His hand path is consistent and he gets the barrel to the ball consistently. On defense his strong arm plays even better due to a quick release and good body control.
