Monday BP Highlights -- Part 1
12/29/2014 2:49:00 PM
Andrew Yerzy (2016 C, Toronto, ON) is a big 6-foot-3, 208-pound left handed hitting catcher with big juice in his bat.  He has a calm approach at the plate with an easy swing and lots of power to all fields.

Gabe Scavone (2016 1B, Orlando, FL) is strong enough to hit from a spread stance with limited shift into contact.  He's very pull oriented in his approach and when he squared the ball up it got to or over the wall in a hurry.

Trace Bucey (2016 OF, Corpus Christi, TX) traveled to Florida from the southern coast of Texas, where he already has an in-state commitment to Texas A&M.  He has a strong left handed swing with bat speed and lots of lift.

Tyler Calvert (2016 3B, Braselton, GA) has a loose right handed swing with plenty of looseness and extension out front.  The 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior has all the tools to keep improving with additional strength.

Xzavion Curry (2016 SS, Atlanta, GA) has already stood out with his throwing arm, speed and overall athleticism and added a very solid BP to that showcase resume as well.  His right handed swing is short and explosive with very quick hands to the ball.

Will Banfield (2018 C, Lawrenceville, GA) is only a freshman but he has a very projectable 6-foot, 180-pound build to go with quick hands and some present bat speed.

Hayes Durant (2016 C, Pensacola, FL) is the son of long-time PGA golf standout Joe Durant and like many golfer's sons, he has fast, loose wrists that generate very good bat speed.  Durant's baseball swing has some lift and power potential to it.

Robert Scott (2017 SS, Longwood, FL) weighs only 135 pounds and is a sophomore but he has a very quick and loose swing and really squared up the ball well with an attacking approach.  He's going to keep improving as he matures physically.

Herbert Iser (2016 C, Miami, FL) doesn't get any breaks from Jet Blue Stadium, which goes out almost immediately to 380 feet from Pesky's corner.  But the highly ranked left handed slugger did put one ball into the stands above the 380 sign, meaning it was at least a 400 foot blow.

Cory Campbell (2016 OF, Cumming, GA) has a very sound approach from the left side, with a balanced shift into contact and good lower half use.  The ball jumps hard off his barrel with good back spin.
