2015
C Tyler Murray (Huntington Beach, CA) provided the
highlight of the game. After getting hit by a pitch in his second
at-bat of the game, he took advantage of the "fastball only"
situation that results (per PG showcase rules any batter that is
walked or hit by a pitch will remain in the box with the same number
of strikes and continue the at-bat with the pitcher required to throw
only fastballs) by crushing the next pitch he saw over the left field
fence. He also posted a 1.88 pop time in between innings and showed
solid receiving ability behind the plate.
2017
MIF/RHP Jake Rogers (Las Vegas, NV) impressed in a 2-for-3
effort, driving in and scoring a run with a short simple swing. He
also threw a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout and
allowing just one hit.
2016
C/1B Michael Borg (Whittier, CA) went 2-for-2 with a triple
and a run scored.
2016
SS Matthew Fields (Lakewood, CA) went 2-for-3 with a pair
of triples, showing surprising power for his slender athletic frame.
2016
C Cooper Uhl (Mission Viejo, CA) went 2-for-3 with a pair
of doubles and was a well struck lineout to short away from a 3-for-3
game. He also showed well defensively with compact actions behind the
plate and solid catch and throw ability.
2016
1B/RHP Mitchell Allen (Phoenix, AZ) had a big showing,
going 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and also ran his fastball up to
85 mph while striking out two of the three batters he faced in his
one inning of relief.
2017
LHP Isaac Esquida (Pomona, CA) struck out three and allowed just an
unearned run over three innings, topping out at 86 mph and spinning a
quality 73 mph curveball and flashing a 75 mph changeup.
2017
OF/RHP Daniel De La Pena (Monterey Park, CA) struck out all three
batters he faced in his inning of relief, topping out at 82 mph.
2017
RHP Marcus Christy (Mesa, AZ) struck out four in three scoreless
innings, sitting 80-82 with his fastball and generating uncomfortable
swings from right handers thanks to the angle his cross-body delivery
creates coming from the third base side. He backed the fastball with
a curveball up to 69 mph and a changeup up to 75.
