Summer baseball is a very useful scouting tool for evaluating both high school and college players alike. But, keep in mind that it is not by any means the be all and end all. Players change, both for the worse and for the better at this early stage in their careers. Players have breakout summers then slide in the spring. And, then there are players that scouts feel like they have a fully formed evaluation of that turn out to be far better than they realized when the spring rolls around. There’d no greater example of that this spring than Arkansas’s Chris Oliver.
