Ole Miss makes strong impression

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Mississippi entered this weekend's road series against Mississippi State having played six extra-inning games so far this spring. Getting wins in those games was difficult, but not close to the test Mike Bianco's club faced this weekend.

That toughest test came Sunday afternoon in Starkville, against the Rebels' most hated team. The result? The Rebels couldn't have passed it in more impressive fashion, beating the Bulldogs 12-2 and recording 20 hits in the process, while sending hundreds of fans to the exits as early as the sixth inning.

“This has been a resilient bunch so far this year. This has been a tough group and we've handled things well. You're going to get kicked in the mouth in this league, and you have to find a way to get back up,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “There have been some times this year when bounce back games haven't worked out well for us, but it did today, and I would've been more surprised if our guys had not stepped up, than if we came out not ready to play.”
