College Top 25: Several make push

Kendall Rogers

It wasn't too long ago South Alabama was considered one of the nation's premier programs, especially on the mid-major level. Well, the Jaguars are well on their way to restoring order with Mark Calvi leading the charge, and they're back in the Perfect Game College Top 25.

While the Jaguars' debut in the rankings headlines this week's storylines, South Florida and Stanford also entered the latest College Top 25. USF cemented itself atop the Big East standings with an impressive road series win over Notre Dame, while the Cardinal strongly rebounded from a tough series at Oregon by taking two of three from Arizona State.

With those three teams entering the rankings, the teams moving out this week includes Kentucky, Mississippi and Georgia Tech. The Wildcats dropped a tough home series to Arkansas, Ole Miss dropped an SEC series to Kentucky, and Georgia Tech continued to scuffle a bit over the weekend in a home series loss to Coastal Carolina.

The top seven teams this week are unchanged with North Carolina, Vanderbilt, LSU, Cal State Fullerton and North Carolina State leading the way atop the rankings, while Florida State and UCLA reentered the top 10 with Arizona State falling from No. 8 to No. 13.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Virginia Tech moved from No. 24 to No. 20 following another solid weekend, while Mississippi State moved from No. 17 to No. 14 after sweeping Alabama, and South Carolina dropped from No. 14 to No. 16 after losing a pair of games to Vanderbilt at home over the weekend.

The Perfect Game College Top 25 is released each Monday morning during the college baseball season.
