It hasn't taken long for coach Mik Aoki to work his magic at Notre Dame.

Though the last two seasons have been somewhat trying for the Fighting Irish, they've also gone through both campaigns knowing that they were building for the future, not necessarily the present.

But after finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Big East the last two seasons, the Fighting Irish, with a host of outstanding hitters and pitchers back this spring, are off to a terrific start and ready to make a statement on the national stage, not only during the regular season, but also in the postseason.

With a huge weekend coming up at the Dodgertown Classic out in Los Angeles, and with contests against Oklahoma, UCLA and USC on the docket, Aoki took time out of his busy day to sit down for an in-depth conversation, questions ranging from specific questions about his team and players, as well as his thoughts on some of the top prospects he has seen in college baseball so far this season.

Question: When you look at this squad at 8-2 going into another big weekend, what are your overall thoughts?
