JUPITER, Fla. -- After washing out much of Thursday’s action at the PG WWBA World Championship, Hurricane Sandy was unable to wreak havoc on Friday’s action, though, the situation was tense at times.

Several intriguing prospects were on display Friday. For instance, Vanderbilt commitment and switch-pitcher Aubrey McCarty dazzled many with his work on the mound. McCarty threw in the mid 80s from the left side, while his strong right arm topped out at 89.

Texas A&M commitment and Houston Banditos righthanded pitcher Casey Shane also showed why he’s one of the nation’s most coveted prospects with a fastball reaching 94.

In addition to observations on many top prospects, we also have plenty of college baseball scoop on programs such as Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Florida International.

JUPITER OBSERVATIONS

* It was easy to be impressed with Team Elite’s physicality. Clemson commitment and talented outfielder Austin Meadows led the way. It was my first time to see Meadows, and I came away very impressed. The imposing 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, had a good approach and had an impressive pro body. Team Elite also had other impressive commitments. Georgia Tech commit and outfielder Terry McClure hit a gapper in the contest, and like Meadows, had an impressive frame at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. USC commit and 6-foot-5, 250-pounder, Rowdy Tellez is a big target at the plate, while Georgia 2013 commitment Skyler Weber had a thicker-than-expected frame despite being listed at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds. All four were impressive.
