2018 Top Prospects

Max Marusak  OF - 2018 - Amarillo, TX
Texas Tech

The recent Texas Tech commit turned in the fastest 60 time at 6.37 and the speed showed in all phases of the game. He had a quick first step in the infield and was athletic through the ball. At the plate he worked to all fields with good barrel feel and looseness in his wrists.

Kevin Conley  RHP - 2018 - Spring, TX
New Mexico

Conley showed off big time arm strength right off the bat in the outfield workouts with the top velocity of 95 mph. That translated to the mound as his fastball hit 88 mph with a long arm action from a high three quarter slot. Also showed a tight slider in the mid 70's with feel for a changeup as well.

Jack Sigrist  SS - 2018 - Plano, TX
Wichita State

Sigrist showed very smooth actions from shortstop with soft hands and smooth transfer skills. He posted a 6.65 time in the 60 yard dash as well. He hit a home run during batting practice with a barrel that worked quickly through the zone with good bat speed and a direct path to the ball.

Tres Thomas  OF - 2018 - Arlington, TX

What Thomas may lack in size, he makes up with quick twitch athleticism. He showed one of the stronger arms from the outfield, moving well to the ball up to 88 mph and showed good speed with a 6.80 60. Made good contact at the plate as well with quick hands through the zone.

Bennett Laurence  OF - 2018 - Rockwall, TX
Oklahoma

Another impressive athlete, Laurence posted a 6.89 time in the 60 with a very strong arm from the outfield up to 87 mph. He showed a very balanced swing at the plate as well and sprayed the ball around the field. Also pitched and worked his fastball up to 83 mph with extension down the mound.

Landon Dorman  RHP - 2018 - New Diana, TX
Campbell/McLennan CC

Dorman showed very impressive arm strength on the mound from a projectable, lean 6-foot-2 frame. He worked from an extended three quarter arm slot with a longer arm action. His fastball ran up to 85 mph with some arm side life and he mixed in a curveball in the upper 60's.

Mason Mays  OF - 2018 - Amarillo, TX

Mays showed athleticism in almost every facet of the workout. Posting a 6.90 60 time, throwing 85 mph from the outfield, and 84 mph from the mound. He showed good hand quickness with his swing and showed good carry off his barrel during batting practice.

Eric Sheffield  C - 2018 - Ingleside, TX
Schreiner University

Sheffield showed some of the most impressive power at the event with a pull home run during batting practice and an opposite field home run in game. He showed tremendous balance with consistent impact off his barrel.

Jose Gutierrez  IF - 2018 - Arlington, TX
Dallas Baptist

Turning in some of the loudest contact both in game and during batting practice was Gutierrez. He showed big power from the left side with a home run in game showing off his bat speed. He also impressed behind the plate with a strong arm and a workout pop time of 2.00.

Matt Gibbons  RHP - 2018 - Powderly, TX

Gibbons generated good extension down the mound with a long, full arm action and ran his fastball up to 86 mph with arm side life. He filled the zone, getting to both sides of the plate and showed feel for his changeup and the ability to spin his curveball.

Alex Egan  RHP - 2018 - Hammond, LA
Jones College

Egan is a projectable right handed pitcher that worked downhill well with his fastball that worked up to 86 mph. He showed good balance on the mound and mixed his pitches well between his fastball, curveball, and changeup.

AJ Spinello  C - 2018 - Shawnee, KS
Arkansas State

Spinello turned in one of the top pop times of the event with a 1.92 time in workouts. He also showed a quick barrel at the plate with impressive barreled contact to his pull side.

Jordan Compton  SS - 2018 - Oklahoma City, OK
Eastern Oklahoma State College

Compton showed well in several aspects of the showcase, starting with a 6.91 time in the 60 and throwing 84 mph across the infield. He showed similar intent on the mound as well with a whippy arm action and a fastball up to 84 mph as well. He showed quick hands at the plate as well from both sides of the plate.

Cody Vannoy  C - 2018 - Leander, TX
Texas Rio Grande Valley

Vannoy impressed in a variety of ways during the event, starting with a fluid swing during batting practice with a line drive approach that played in the middle of the field. He pitched as well with a full arm action from a three quarter slot with a fastball up to 82 mph and showed feel for his curveball.

Preston Schimmel  SS - 2018 - Allen, TX

Schimmel showed a simple and direct swing to the ball during batting practice with the ability to make good, line drive contact to all parts of the field. He also impressed with one of the top 60 times at 6.37.

Hunter Bertrand  1B - 2018 - Abbeville, LA
Uncommitted

Bertrand showed a very short, compact swing at the plate with a line drive swing plane. He drove the ball well with good strength in his 6-foot-4 frame with projection still remaining. Worked the ball well up the middle and to his pull side.

Kyle Conley  LHP - 2018 - Spring, TX
New Mexico

The brother of Kevin, Kyle also showed a strong arm from the outfield up to 88 mph. From the left side, he showed a short, compact delivery on the mound with very low effort. His fastball worked up to 82 showing both cut and run to separate sides of the plate.

Miller Pleimann  RHP - 2018 - Fayetteville, AR
Wichita State

Pleimann is a projectable right handed pitcher with lots of room to fill and a long, loose arm action. He mixed speeds well, working with his fastball that was up to 84 mph with arm side life. He also showed feel for spin with his 11/5 shaped curveball.

Mak Sexton  C - 2018 - Cedar Park, TX

Has good size behind the plate for a catcher while having good footwork and making online throws. Has raw strength with more to come, which should only amplify his hit and power tool at the plate.


2019 Top Prospects

Kyte McDonald  OF - 2019 - San Antonio, TX
Mississippi State

McDonld showed well with the bat, making loud barreled contact in batting practice showing quick hands and a line drive swing plane. He backed that up with a loud home run in game and turned in an impressive 6.58 time in the 60 yard dash.

Jared Southard  RHP - 2019 - Leander, TX
Texas

Southard turned in one of the better pop times with a 1.94 time during workouts and a strong arm as well up to 80 mph from behind the dish. He showed the same strong arm from the outfield up to 92 mph. He then peppered contact to all fields in both game and batting practice action with a home run.

Payton Miller  C - 2019 - Yukon, OK
Eastern Oklahoma State College

Miller was one of the more intriguing prospects during the event, turning in a solid pop time of 1.99 behind the plate. Not listed even as a secondary pitcher, Miller pitched as well and impressed working up to 89 mph with a loose arm action and online delivery. He also showed feel for a changeup with late sink.

Rowan Arrant  RHP - 2019 - Nacogdoches, TX
Dallas Baptist

Arrant showed promise as a two-way talent during the event. He worked downhill well on the mound from a high three quarter arm slot and compact arm action. He ran his fastball up to 85 mph and flashed a curveball with sharpness. At the plate, he worked with a high launch angle and impressed with his power potential.

DJ Garcia  C - 2019 - Corpus Christi, TX

Garcia impressed at the plate with the ability to get to all fields with consistent barreled contact. He generated good bat speed with barrel tilt and showed quickness with his hands through the ball.

Cesar Eguia  RHP - 2019 - Forney, TX
Howard College

Eguia has solid projection remaining in his 6-foot-1 frame and impressed on the mound with a longer arm action and repeatable delivery. His fastball that topped out at 84 mph with arm side life and maintained his arm speed well on his changeup.

Mackenson Bobo  RHP - 2019 - Longview, TX

Bobo offers an impressive collection of tools with a strong arm up to 85 mph from the outfield and a 6.85 time in the 60 yard dash. He showed a short, line drive swing at the plate as well working the ball up the middle of the field.


2020 Top Prospects

Dominic Johnson  OF - 2020 - Edmond, OK
Oklahoma State

For an incoming Freshman, Johnson showed impressive athleticism posting a 6.82 60 yard dash time and also showing out with the barrel. He repeats his swing well with hand quickness and carry off the barrel up the middle and pull side.

Dalton Porter  OF - 2020 - Leander, TX
Texas

Porter showed a very quick arm from the left side running his fastball up to 82 mph. He showed good tempo and feel on the mound with a low effort delivery from a higher slot. Also showed a loose swing at the plate with intent through the zone.

Storm Hierholzer  RHP - 2020 - Austin, TX
TCU

Hierholzer impressed off the mound with a fluid, loose arm action and easy arm speed. His fastball topped out at 80 mph, but it's easy to see more velocity coming. He worked effectively around the zone and showed feel for both his changeup and curveball.
