2015 Summer Collegiate Top Prospect Index
Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Top Prospect List (20)

It was another wild summer in the Great Lakes League. The Lima Locos exercised some demons in 2015, as they were able to capture both the best record in the regular season (28-7) and the championship crown. In 2014 they had the best regular season record but were knocked out of the playoffs.

A number of players turned heads this summer with Cole Gordon (Mississippi State) showing off impressive power and feel for the barrel, while infielder Andy Young (Indiana State) and pitcher Brayden Bouchey (Seton Hill) won Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year awards, respectively.

TOP 10 PROSPECTS

1. Andrew Faintich, lhp, Lima (UCF/JR in 2016)
Faintich will enter his junior season with only 10 total innings at UCF under his belt, but the southpaw impressed in his time at Lima this summer. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder is built more like a linebacker than a pitcher, but he still maintains solid fluidity and balance throughout his delivery. When one considers the playoffs and league All-Star Game, Faintich threw 21 1/3 innings this summer, valuable experience for a pitcher that hasn’t had much time on the mound for the Golden Knights. He’s obviously pretty much maxed out physically, so he doesn’t project to add much more velocity, but Faintich has a solid enough arsenal for a lefthanded reliver with a 88-91 mph fastball and a slider with two-plane depth that grades out as average on the scouting scale. Faintich fills up the strike zone and knows how to mix and match with his arsenal, and while it is not the most exciting package, he profiles well as a middle reliever at the next level.
