National High School Top 50: May 11
With
the high school state championships ramping up, and wrapping up in
several cases, this week's edition of the Top 50 has seen the most
movement of any edition so far this season.
Our
top three (Parkview, Ga., Buford, Ga., Park Vista, Fla.) have stayed
the same, as all three schools are still winning in the state
playoffs. We have several State Champions in the Top 50, with huge
congratulations due to each team:
•
Barbe High School won
the Louisiana 5A State Championship for the second consecutive year.
Sulphur High School lost to Barbe in the final; so they ended up No.
2 in the state class of 5A
•
Perennial power
Archbishop McCarthy won the Florida 5A State Championship, beating
Mosley in the final.
•
St. Thomas More won the
Louisiana 4A State Championship
Making
their debut in the rankings this week is Owasso (Okla.) High School,
and deservedly so after a 28-5 season that saw them capture the
Oklahoma 6A State Championship.
Another
school making their rankings debut is Venice High School after they
won the Florida 4A State Championship. Also new this week is Oak
Ridge (Texas) High School, as they make the charge towards the state
title in Texas.
Brother
Rice (Mich.) won their fourth straight Catholic League title,
defeating Divine Child in the final. They will now move onto the
Michigan State Playoffs.
Good
luck to the rest of the teams in our Top 50, as well as to the rest
of the teams across the nation, as they continue play in their
respective state playoffs this week.
