Ohio Valley Preview

Drake Browne

Super25 is Sweeping the Ohio Valley

The 2015 PG Super25 Ohio Valley schedule kicks off this weekend with the 12u and 13u Ohio Valley Regional Qualifiers in Maineville, OH.  After an impressive debut in last year's inaugural season, the PG Super25 tournament series has completely taken over the states of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  The 2015 slate features a total of 52 tournaments that will be held all over the Region, and while registration is still open for most of the events, a total of 625 teams have already requested an invite to participate.

Inaugural Season Success

In 2014, a total of 14 teams from the Ohio Valley earned a berth and represented their Region at the Super25 National Championships.  This includes the first ever PG Super25 National Champions, the 9u Midland Blackhawks, whose title game was the first to be played out of all the age divisions.  You can watch a replay of that game here.

Another team that played well at the National Championships was the 11u Indiana Baseball Club, who finished in third place, losing a nail biter in the semi-finals to the eventual champs, the Arkansas Express.  The Lids Indiana Bulls Black advanced to the playoffs of the 13u National Championship, and the Indiana Landsharks did the same in the 17u division.  In the 14u National Championship, the Cincinnati Spikes made the playoffs and played a tough game, losing in extra innings to the Tri-State Arsenal.  The Arsenal went on to win the title.

Organizations to Watch

By looking at the teams registered for all of the different tournaments, the Ohio Valley Staff has put together a list of the Organizations to Watch in 2015.  This list is based off their knowledge of the teams, and who they think has a chance to make a run at a National Title this summer.

  • Indiana Prospects (Indianapolis, IN)
