As
a player opening day is always a different animal. Controlling your
emotions, expectations and excitement for the new season is always a
battle. Then you have to face the task at hand of performing to your
best ability. For me it's always hard to judge what you're watching
on an opening day due to all of these variables.
This
is important to keep in mind on a day in which there were over 75 MLB
scouts, scouting directors and cross-checkers to take in a contest of
two Junior College juggernauts; Chipola College (Fla.) vs. San
Jacinto (Texas), which pitted the Nos. 2 and 4 overall JUCO prospects
against one another, lefthander Mac Marshall and righthander Riley
Smith.
