Corey Black is a 2009 MIF/P/C/OF with a 5'10'', 158 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Mission Bay. Black has a medium sized frame with an athletic build. Defensively, Black has good tools to work with and is a versitile defender. On the infield he has quick transfers with good actions. He has good arm strength with carry on his throws. He showed good body control on slow rollers and can make the running play. Behind the plate, he has a quick release with sound transfers. At the plate, Black starts with an open stance with high hands. He has a high back elbow and stays open through his swing. Black swings on a flat path and generates some bat speed. Black pitches from a 3/4 slot with a short arm action. He has a fast arm and his arm works well. He has a live arm and pitches with some effort. The ball comes out clean and he pitches to both sides of the plate. He has lots of tools to work with and is a good student.
