David Boan is a 2017 C/1B/RHP with a 6-4 195 lb. frame from Pike Road, AL who attends Evangel Christian Academy. Extra large and tall frame, strong now and projects very well physically. Right handed hitter, pretty simple and short swing for his size, hits from a wide base with a good load, line drive swing plane, has hand quickness, front hip is occasionally early but stays directional well, works the middle of the field and shows some raw power and carry. 7.69 runner, young footwork behind the plate throwing and receiving, has some raw arm strength that would improve with better feet, gets rid of the ball quickly, 2.00 best pop time, may outgrown the catching position. Also pitched, high 3/4's arm slot, uses his lower half well, medium length arm circle that hides the ball well. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, heavy fastball and works it down in the zone well. Showed nice feel and depth on his upper 60's curveball, got hitters to chase it. Has potential on the mound as well.
