CJ Smith is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Royston, GA who attends Home School. Smith has broad shoulders with a high waist and projectable build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm action. Smith has a slight hip turn at balance point and has a balanced delivery. He uses an extended arm slot with some angle to it and works downhill well. Smith gets run on his fastball and pounded it down in the zone well. He attacked hitters and showed projection with his fastball. He throws a big 1/7 curveball with depth to it. He also throws a good change up with good sink and some run to it. His change up has late fade to it and shows a lot of promise. Smith showed pitchability and a feel for pitching. Defensively he showed solid actions in the outfield with some athleticism. At the plate, Smith starts with a slightly open stance and has a lower hand load. He showed a feel for the barrel and has loose wrists and some bat speed. Solid two-way guy with big upside on the mound. Outstanding student.
