Gabriel Cancel is a 2015 SS with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Arecibo, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Nice athletic build, good present strength with more to come. Very solid defensive actions in the middle infield, 6.83 runner and light on his feet for his size, fluid movements, works through the ball and can make the athletic play, good arm strength with carry, hands can get a bit hard at times but playable, has the profile and actions to play all over the infield. Right handed hitter, big hand drop load, loose extended swing, keeps his hands short to the ball, loose whippy swing with good barrel speed, hard pull contact in games, key to development will be adjusting hand load to upper level pitchers.
