Justin Cervantes is a 2019 OF/RHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from La Mesa, CA who attends Helix. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.20 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with sound exchanges while working through transfer. Generated low carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 89 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance and high back elbow set. Creates slight hand coil at load and works to contact with rotational actions. Direct path with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Stayed balanced throughout swing with present bat speed and strength at contact. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the barrel feel to work the other way as well. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Created slight hook at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Generated some downhill plane with a fastball offering that had slight life to arm side as well ion the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had loose spin with some depth when staying on top of offering. Began to show sharper bite with breaking ball when maintaining arm speed through finish. Named to the 2017 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student as well.
