Samuel Hicks is a 2016 MIF/RHP/OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Oak Ridge HS. Lean athletic build, wide shoulders, some present strength with room for more. Right handed hitter, narrow upright stance, long line drive swing, swings hard and has the beginnings of some bat speed, best when working to the middle of the field, will get off balance with looking to pull, projects as a hitter. Very good run and throw tools, 6.74 in the sixty, shows a big arm from both third base and in the outfield, showed he could throw from multiple arm angles in the infield, basic actions looked a bit more polished in the outfield but can likely play all over the field. Also pitched, high energy delivery, over the top arm slot and will spin off to the first base side. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, has been up to 88 mph in the past, mostly straight, will show occasional depth on an upper 60's curveball. Projectable young athlete who should keep improving. Good student.
