Christian Mendez is a 2017 1B/OF, LHP with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Santee, CA who attends Santana. Large, well-built frame with excellent strength throughout and solid athleticism. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Hits from wide stance, spread out in box, slightly open with front hip. Has some forward bend with slight barrel tip at peak of hand load, shows good bat speed to and through the zone. Swings hard with intent to damage the baseball. Approach is power-driven, shows solid command of the strike zone despite aggressive approach. Worked out defensively at 1st base during drills. Showed good fielding actions at 1st base, fielding cleanly and showing athleticism on turn to throw to 2B. Picked well during game action. Threw accurately to 2B and 3B with velocity registering at 74 MPH. Good student.
