A.J. DiFillipo is a 2016 3B/OF, RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Peabody, MA who attends Belmont Hill. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders and present strength, projects for more with room to fill out. Ran a 7.04 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front and shows balance in footwork, picks backhand well, gets on top of throws with extension out front and nice arm strength and accuracy across. Also pitched, steady tempo to delivery with very good arm speed coming through. Short arm circle in back with an over the top release, creates downhill plane on fastball that topped 84 mph with life to arm side and occasional sink. Sharp 11-5 curveball with tight spin and late depth, very good feel for it, flashed changeup with fading life at 70 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts with a narrow stance and high hand set. Short and quick path to ball, generates solid bat speed with hard contact coming off the barrel. Consistent line drive contact to pull side, leverage at contact, stays balanced and shows ability to drive ball to each gap. Named to Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
