Tucker Pate is a 2016 C/3B/RHP with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Karns HS. Pate has a large athletic build. Hits from a square spread stance. Line drive swing plane with lift. Has good bat speed and hands go directly to ball. Barrel stays in zone. Has strength in swing and makes good contact. Defensively, behind the plate, short arm action with good carry on throws. Has good upside behind plate. On the infield, works through the ball well, fields ball out front, short quick arm action. Ball carries well out of hand. Has athletic actions. Also pitched. Short arm action to 3/4 arm slot. Fastball has good late life and is heavy. Arm works well. Slider has late bite. Plenty of tools on mound, has good upside. Good Student. Named to the Southeast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect Team.
