LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
T.J. Dailey is a 5-11, 175 lb junior catcher from Missouri who looks like he could be one of the top defensive catchers in the 2007 class nationally. He has good athletic quickness and balance behind the plate and sets up comfortably and naturally. Dailey's arm strength is first rate. His throws are very low and very accurate and any team that has seen him throw a couple times isn't going to run on him. He threw a number of runners out. Dailey could quicken his release a bit if he really wanted to put up 1.80 type pop times but he threw in drills just like he did in games; under control and accurate. Offensively, Dailey is a switch hitter with similar approaches from both sides of the plate. He hits out of a wide stance and uses his strong hands to generate good bat speed with some extension. Dailey tends to lay his bat down flat on his back shoulder, especially from the left side, which creates a very long path to the ball, but this can be corrected with instruction. Dailey should continue to develop and become a highly recruited Division I type of prospect. He is a good student, too.
