2010 Northwest Top Prospect Showcase
Drew Nelson is a 2013 MIF/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Kent, WA who attends Mount Rainier. Nelson is a young player with the makings of a very good athlete. Already has good size and has developing strength with sloped shoulders. Shows good actions on the infield, moves well side to side, good footwork, hands are soft and fields out front. Aggressive fielder that makes plays, throws are on target to first base. Short swing at the plate from an upright straight away stance, hits off of front foot. Over the top release on the mound, sound mechanics, balanced, high kick, drives to plate. Shorter arm action on backside and comes through clean. Easy to project velocity gains for him. Lots of tools to work with here and he will be a guy to follow. Good student.
