Muldowney, Billy- We’ve seen Muldowney many times and he is an outstanding prospect with the bat and especially on the mound. This time he came to the PG World Showcase as a catcher and we were pleasantly surprised. He showed good catch/throw skills despite practically no experience behind the plate. His body type, arm strength, and feel for the game are utilized very well at that position. His bat and power potential are pretty attractive as a catcher. He even runs well for that position. It might just be his ticket to the big leagues someday. Problem is, his value as a HS or College pitcher could keep him from becoming a catcher for quite some time. He is a very good student and has signed early with Duke University. Of course, it should be noted he is a draft prospect this June as a pitcher. He is a very intelligent, tough, hard-nosed baseball player with great make up.
