Derrick Robinson is a 2006 OF/LHP from PK Yonge HS in Archer, FL, with a 5'11", 170 lb. frame. He's the fastest player we've ever seen at a Perfect Game event and undoubtedly one of the fastest baseball players at any level in the country. Robinson ran a 6.19 60 in Atlanta and didn't looked stressed doing it. He can go under 4.00 on a full swing. Needless to say, Robinson has great range in the outfield as well. He showed top professional level arm strength at 91 mph during drills and has a very quick release, which puts him among the elite class as a defensive outfielder. Offensively, Robinson is a switch hitter with some strength in his hands and some raw bat speed. Just when everyone was talking about him as a speed player, he hit a ball to the warning track in right field from the left side. His bat is definitely his least developed tool at present but there is no mistaking that the potential is there. If his bat comes, Robinson is a first rounder and potential All-Star, a Kenny Lofton with better defensive skills. Needless to say, Robinson is a nationally known football player as well, but his instincts and enthusiasm for baseball are very high in our opinion. Top Level Prospect!

Derrick Robinson is a lean athletic 5'10/160 switch hitting OF/LHP from Archer, FL. Robinson is a strong armed outfielder with sub 6.50 speed in the 60. He still needs to add some strength to swing the wood bat but all the fundamentals are there to be a good hitter in the future. His arm, plus running ability and natural hitting talent make him one of the best 06s in the country. He's an outstanding defensive center fielder with big MLB tools. He can also pitch and as a lefty he's a top college prospect who throws mid to higher 80s. Derrick is a good student as well as being an exciting player and he's only a junior.

Derrick Robinson is a 2006 OF from Archer, FL. Robinson gained a rare invitation to the Perfect Game National Showcase as a 2006 prospect based on his performance at Sunshine East. He’s a very live bodied athlete who also shows above average baseball instincts. Robinson’s speed gets your attention right away. He’s a 6.5 runner with very good first step quickness that he uses both offensively and defensively. We had him at 3.13 on one steal of second base, which is top level big league speed. Defensively, Robinson also has close to Major League average arm strength right now and a smooth, projectable arm stroke. With his speed, arm and instincts, Robinson will be a top caliber fielder at all three outfield positions. Robinson did some things very well with the bat in his hands, but has lots of room for improvement as well. He has strong wrists and hands for his size and generates very good bat speed with a level line drive swing. Robinson makes very little use of his lower half and will frequently hit around the ball trying to pull. Both are correctable with good coaching and repetitions. Robinson also threw three innings in Fort Myers, but his outfield arm strength didn’t translate to the hill. Robinson topped out at 82 mph with a 63 mph curveball. He can throw harder, but he's such a good prospect as an outfielder, who cares.
