2016 West Coast Underclass Showcase
Gavin Grant is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Puyallup, WA who attends Puyallup HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic frame. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.50 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows actions that will work in game play when working to the baseball. Smooth hands while funneling the baseball out front and working to back hand. Arm works well with a clean arm stroke. Baseball came out of hand quickly and clean topping at 76 mph. Throws were very accurate across the infield creating solid carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a square, balanced stance. Primarily used a mid-field to pull side approach with a smooth, fluid barrel path. Stays under control while working to baseball creating consistent line drive contact. Flashed solid bat speed through extension that produces some backspin and carry to the pull side gap when squared. Good student. Named to 2016 West Coast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List.
