Cody Lewis is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Monroe, GA who attends Walnut Grove High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.23 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, used a long arm action, got into a good position to field, quick first step with athletic actions on the move. At the plate, started with an even stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Made consistent contact with a linear swing plane. Shifted well to the ball and flashed hand speed with raw bat speed. Also pitched, showed good tempo to delivery, quick leg raise past belt, worked from the middle of the rubber, crossfire element and generated good extension through the ball. Pitched with a longer, rigid arm action through the back and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Fastball showed occasional cut at 81-83/84 mph with ability to get to both sides. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with big depth out of the hand and developing tightness. Worked inside well with fastball and generated weak contact in on the hands. Will continue to improve on the mound with incorporation of a third pitch.
