Ricardo Martinez is a 2019 RHP/SS with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Fisherville, KY who attends Louisville Trinity. Athletic build with beginnings of strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced with slight coil at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Flashed good arm speed through extension with a fastball offering that generated riding life to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Breaking ball displayed 10/4 shape with solid spin and sweep to glove side. Generated sharp, late action with curveball when maintaining arm speed through extension. Consistently changed speeds and showed good feel for each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing high energy footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange well. Threw the baseball with intent creating on line carry across the infield at 82 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Stays behind contact well while employing a simple, direct path to contact. Slightly lifted barrel plane through extension and looked to drive the ball to the middle of the field. Flashed the barrel feel to work the other way as well. Good student.
