Travis Ray is a 2016 1B/3B with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Tallahassee, FL who attends North Florida Christian. Large frame with a plus physical, athletic build. Already shows next level phsyical tools. Right handed hitter with a balanced, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Loads to a very strong position with a deeper hand set. Lower half launches aggresively with linear actions creating good shift into contact. Shows excellent bat speed with very loud barrel contact. Has good leverage through the zone producing mutiple line drive deep into the gaps including three home runs that easily cleared the wall from left to left centerfield. Produces tight backspin on baseall that results in excellent carry to the outfield. Already possesses next level power and will continue to refine barrel skills allowing for all fields contact. Worked out defensively from the infield and first base. At first base shows smooth funneling glove skills with athletic actions while moving to both sides. Developing accuracy across the infield with high energy throwing mechanics. From the infield shows good range and athletic actions for size. Takes effiecent first step angles to groundballs in each hole. Clean funneling glove skills while surroudning the baseball with smooth glove to hand exchanges. Throws across the infield with a three-quarters arm slot with good carry and accuracy, topped at 84 mph. Graded better at this event as an infielder. Impressed in game play defensively with a charging bare hand play and diving stop to glove hand side at third base. Named to 2016 Pre-Draft Showcase Top Prospect List.
