Matt Schroer is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 195 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Arcadia HS. Long and athletic build with some present strength and lots of potential for more. Multi-piece delivery, lots of moving parts that are not always consistent at their check points, creates deception, loose and long whippy arm action from a high 3/4's slot. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, gets good arm side running action at times, will have to become more consistent working down in the zone with his fastball. Slurve type breaking ball, caught between curveball and slider action at times, has the ability to spin it with some refinement. Right handed hitter, open spread stance, backside hitter with quick hands and some lift to his swing, ball will jump well when squared. Projectable athlete who should keep improving with time and repetitions. Very good student, verbal commitment to Louisiana State.
