Colton Willems is a 2006 right handed pitcher from John Carroll HS in Fort Pierce, FL, with a 6'4", 185 lb. frame. Willems is showing some strength right now and is going to be a big, strong athlete when he matures physically. He throws from a high 3/4's release point with a fast, clean arm action. Willems fastball topped out at 93 mph in Atlanta and he was aggressive pitching inside to right handed hitters with his fastball, showing nice command of the pitch. Willems best pitch is a 78 mph curveball that is very tight and very late. We've seen him throw this pitch at slider velocity with a shorter break before; in this outing it was deeper. Whichever way he throws it, Willems breaking ball is hard and late. Willems also shows very good feel on a sinking 74 mph change up. Willems has some of the best raw stuff of any pitcher in the 2006 class and he shows all signs of getting better in the future. He has committed to Florida.
