Jonny Soto is a 2017 2B/SS with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Culver City, CA who attends Culver City HS. Compact frame with a solid, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a tall open stance, leg lift trigger and high back elbow set. Compact path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Barrel stays in zone well due to solid extension through contact. Creates some lift at times with the bat speed to drive the baseball through the gaps. Mid-field approach with solid barrel skills, consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice. Baseball conistently jumped of the barrel. Worked out defensively from the infield showing clean glove actions with a slightly deeper funnel while working through transition. Smooth paced glove to hand exchanges. Flashed athletic actions when moving to both sides with easy actions through slow roller. Deliberate gather while working into throws from a three-quarters slot, topped at 74 mph across the infield. Good student.
