Spencer Checkoway is a 2018 SS/RHP, OF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from West Newton, MA who attends Newton North. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build; good projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.26 seconds. Hits from narrow, slightly open stance with hands set close to body, quick hands through swing on line drive plane, finds barrel often to all fields, flashed pop into gaps. Moves well in the infield, quick transfer with quick release, accurate throws clocked up to 76 mph. Pitched as well, collapses downhill and slings it from near sidearm slot, loose arm, fastball worked 69-74 mph with heaviness to pitch. Showed curveball with gradual depth and shape. Good amount of strikes. Excellent student.
