Shanif Hirani is a 2017 OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Petersburg, ON who attends Waterloo Collegiate Institute. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength throughout frame. Has quick twitch-muscle, sound runner and posted a 6.62 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the ball and gathers behind it nicely, short and fast arm action through the backside and gets on top of throws well, some effort out of the hand but comes out with strength and carry, additional arm strength there with use of lower half. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and an upright stance in the box with a medium hand set. Small leg lift/toe tap trigger at start, upper body dominant swing with a short and direct path to the ball. Quickness to hands, occasionally gets to front side early, generates lift at point of contact at times, line drive swing plane with carry off the barrel to opposite field, creates line drive contact. Very good student. Named to Northeast Top-Top Prospect List.
